10th Cheerleading World Championship 2019 successfully concluded

The 10th Anniversary edition of the Cheerleading World Championships were successfully concluded in Takasaki, Japan after more than 130 teams from 31 countries and regions cheered and danced at Takasaki Arena over two days of enthralling competition.

The 10th Cheerleading World Championships, held on the 23rd-24th November, marked the second occasion for the World Championships to be held in Takasaki, a city now well familiar with the sport of cheerleading with numerous national and Asian continental cheerleading competitions also making Takasaki their home.

Medals were awarded across 4 age categories in a total of 20 different divisions including Italy’s first ever Gold medals at the World Championships. One of standout performances from Italy was in Cheerleading Small Groups Mixed where they saw off fierce competition from the 2015 and 2017 World Champions, Thailand, to win Gold.

Japan continued their dominance in Cheerleading Small Groups All Female after winning the Gold medal for the fifth consecutive World Championship.

In Cheerleading Doubles, Thailand were once again crowned World Champion narrowly beating Japan and Italy to the title.

Elsewhere, Indonesia continued their excellent form in Cheerleading Junior 1 securing a bronze medal to add to the Silver medal won at the 2017 World Championships.

Host country Japan dominated the Cheerleading team divisions winning Gold in Cheerleading Junior 1, Junior 2 and Cheerleading Senior All Female. However, Thailand reclaimed the title of World Champion from Japan in Cheerleading Senior Mixed in an exhilarating finale to the World Championships.

In Cheer Dance, Japan secured three Gold medals, with the Russian Federation two Gold medals and Chinese Taipei and Italy winning one Gold medal each.

In Urban Cheer Dance, a new category included in the Cheerleading World Championships for the first time, Thailand were the most successful country winning three Gold medals with Italy and Japan winning one each.
