OCC 2025: Celebrating Cheerleading Excellence in Kaohsiung

The 8th Ocean Cheerleading Championship & City Cheerleading Invitational Competition (OCC 2025) held at the Fongshan Gymnasium in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on April 3rd proved to be another landmark event, showcasing the growing stature of the competition and the international appeal of cheerleading.

A Historic Event

The OCC 2025 marked a significant milestone in the championship’s history. For the first time, the event took place at the Fongshan Gymnasium, which became the largest venue in OCC’s history providing an exceptional setting for both athletes and the enthusiastic crowd.
This year also marked the third time overseas teams participated, further enhancing the event’s reputation in the region. Teams from Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand joined local competitors, contributing to a dynamic and diverse competition.

An Enthusiastic Audience

The championship saw a passionate and energetic crowd, both local and overseas, cheering for their favorite teams. The energy in the Fongshan Gymnasium was palpable, with the spectators’ excitement and support fueling the performances of the cheerleaders. The growing stature of the OCC is reflected not only in the increasing number of international teams but also in the lively participation of an expanding fan base.

Event Highlights

  • Competitors from Across Asia: Teams from Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand showcased their routines in various Cheer Dance, Urban Cheer Dance, and Cheerleading divisions. The diversity of the competition highlighted the international caliber of the championship.
  • Excellence in Performance: Thailand shone in the Cheer Dance and Urban Cheer Dance categories, securing multiple gold medals. Chinese Taipei also put on a strong showing, bringing home several golds. Japan and Korea each claimed gold medals, with Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia also amongst the medals, demonstrating the fierce competition and high level of skill present at the event.

Organizational Success

The Chinese Taipei Cheerleading Federation (CTCF) played a key role in ensuring the success of the event. Held in accordance with international cheerleading standards, the OCC 2025 provided a stage for top-tier teams to display their abilities and passion for the sport. The seamless organization and vibrant atmosphere contributed to the event’s continued success.
