The 6th Ocean Cheerleading Championship and City Cheerleading Invitational Competition 2023 held on April 1st at National Sun Yat-sen University Gymnasium in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei, marked a triumphant return to international competition after a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams from Chinese Taipei, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand came together to showcase their cheer skills and enthusiasm. The event was broadcast live by HOP Sports.
The opening performance was an energetic Cheer Dance routine by team SHINIES from Japan, setting the tone for the exciting competition ahead.
In the international competition rankings, Thailand emerged as one of the standout performers, dominating the Cheer Dance and Urban Cheer Dance categories to clinch multiple medals. Japan also put on an impressive show, scoring gold medals in the Cheerleading Doubles and Cheerleading Small Groups Mixed Level 3 divisions. Singapore also impressed, securing a gold and two silver medals. Finally, the host region amassed a notable two gold, seven silver and four bronze medals.
The event was a resounding success, and it was clear that the teams were overjoyed to be back on the international stage after such a long absence. The competition was intense, with each team bringing their unique style to the floor. The audience was treated to a dazzling display of synchronized routines, stunts, and enthusiastic dance and cheers.
The organizers were especially proud to have successfully hosted an international event after the challenges posed by the pandemic. Stringent safety measures were put in place to ensure the health and safety of all participants and spectators.
